Shelby Stage Race set for August

General Classification Cycling will hold the Shelby County Stage Race in Montevallo Aug. 17-18.
General Classification Cycling (GCC) is a Birmingham-based bicycle club affiliated with the United States Cycling Federation (USCF), and the National Off Road Bicycling Association (NORBA).
The racecourses will all start and finish in the same location, on the University of Montevallo campus.
King of Mountain
There will be a King of the Mountains competition for the Pro 1, & 2, Cat. 3, and Women 1, 2, & 3 categories with cash prizes to the winners.
The course is approximately 2.9 miles in length with several turns and two small hills. Approximately 50 percent of the course is cobbled, therefore it is advised that all racers preview the course and make appropriate wheel choices. Course description: All on campus. Start on College at Intramural Fields, left on Peck, left on Bloch, right on Wills Way, left on King Harman, straight on Flowerhill Drive (loop at President’s Mansion), right on College to finish line.
Road Race
The course is approximately a 15 mile loop with one long gradual stairstep climb and three short hills. Road conditions are generally good with a few fair sections. Course description: start on College at Intramural Fields, right on County Rd. 10, right on County Rd. 22, right on County Rd. 15, right on King Rd., right on College back to start/finish Line.
Criterium
Course is approximately .9 miles in length with two 90-degree turns, one chicane, two long sweeping turns and one small hill. Course Description: all on campus. Start on college at Intramural Fields, make right turns around the Intramural Fields back around to College to the start/finish Line.
Registration is $50 for all categories with a $5 late fee for all entries received after August 12th. Racers will be able to register Friday, Aug. 16th from 6-10 p.m. at the race hotel (Hampton Inn & Suites).
There will be no race day registration.
