SCHS beats Ky. team

Drew Holsomback went 3-for-3 with a double and batted in 2 runs to lead the Shelby County Wildcats to a 3-2 win over Glasgow (Ky.) at Thompson High School last Saturday.
With the game tied 2-2 in the top of the fifth inning, Holsomback led off with a single to center field. Holsomback moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Matthew Palmer and scored on a left field single on a 1-2 count by Stephen Barrow.
David House got the win for the Wildcats, pitching a complete, 7-inning game and allowing only 3 hits and 2 walks. House (1-6) struck out 5 batters and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) in the win.
Barrow finished the day 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.
The team committed only one error in the win.
&uot;We have only made one error in our last 13 innings,&uot; said SCHS head coach Lee Hall. &uot;We are making some progress as a team.&uot;
SCHS was scheduled to play Mortimer Jordan Saturday at THS, but the game was canceled due to inclement weather.
On Friday, the Wildcats dropped a close 3-2 decision to Jemison at Jemison.
Justin Mallory was tagged with the loss. Mallory (1-4) pitched a complete, 6-inning game, allowing 6 hits and 3 earned runs while striking out 5 batters.
The game was tied 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning before Jemison’s 3-hole hitter hit a lead-off, solo home run to win the game 3-2.
Robert Bolton finished the day 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI, a double and a triple. Nick Jones was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
The Wildcats lost to Childersburg 9-1 in the Wildcats’ first area game of the season last Tuesday at Childersburg.
Justin Mallory (1-3) got the loss in a game where 6 different Wildcats found their way to the mound.
Shelby County collected only 4 hits in the loss. Dane Vansant went 1-for-3 with a double, Robert Bolton was 1-for-3 with a double, Dave Cofer went 1-for-2 with the Wildcats’ only RBI and Barrow was 1-for-3 at the plate.
The Wildcats will return to action Friday when they play host to Childersburg at 7 p.m. SCHS will then travel to McAdory Saturday and play host to Jemison Monday
