The Thompson High School wrestling team swept a pair of matches with Gardendale and Mortimer Jordan in high school wrestling action Dec. 8.

Thompson defeated Gardendale 51-26. Nine Warriors won their individual matches against Gardendale.

Brandon Belser of Thompson pinned Scotty Clements of Gardendale in 1:00 in the 120-pound match. Justin Byrd of Thompson pinned Andrew Spires of Gardendale in 1:11 in the 132-pound match.

John Austin (J.A.) Jones of Thompson pinned Patrick Hays of Gardendale in 1:00 in the 152-pound match. David Capers of Thompson earned a 8-1 decision over Matthew Robles of Gardendale in the 195-pound match.

Hunter Pinneo of Thompson pinned Zachary Kolb of Gardendale in three seconds in the 220-pound match. Conner Gilson, Clay Anthony, Mario Haynes and Jesse Masters of Thompson each won matches by forfeit.

The Warriors defeated Mortimer Jordan 58-21. Ten Thompson wrestlers won individual matches against Mortimer Jordan, including Gilson, Anthony, Brandon Belser, Jaden Hunter, Jones, Shane Evans, Masters, Capers, Pinneo and Jake Rakestraw.
