Fugitives caught in Oklahoma

By Patrick Crotty/Reporter Staff Writer

Authorities in Oklahoma arrested three escaped Georgia inmates who were involved in a home-invasion burglary in Shelby on Monday.

Police arrested the men in Marietta, Okla., on Tuesday. Joshua Thompson, Micah Sheer, and Joseph Lee Jr. were taken into custody.

A fourth fugitive, Tracy Mullins, who was also involved in the burglary remains in University Hospital after suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. The three other fugitives fled the scene of the robbery and dropped the wounded man off at a Shelby convenience store.

Authorities from a Dallas-based task force tracked the fugitives down in Oklahoma. The three were arrested without incident, according to reports. A white Jeep Cherokee may have led police to the suspects. The suspects stole the vehicle from Georgia and used it in the Shelby burglary.

Shelby County District Attorney Robby Owens said the suspects will eventually return to the county to face burglary charges. The man who arrived at his home to find four fugitives burglarizing his house will not face charges for shooting one suspect, Owens said
