Panthers win matches at Moody

The Pelham High School wrestling team won a pair of matches Dec. 1 in a dual meet at Moody.
The Panthers defeated Clay-Chalkville 50-24. Ten Pelham wrestlers won their individual matches against the Cougars.
Riley Pike of Pelham pinned Noah Jones of Clay-Chalkville in the 106-pound match. Barrett Barnett of Pelham earned a 18-14 decision over Clay-Chalkville in the 113-pound match. Robby Brantley of Pelham pinned Justin Moore of Clay-Chalkville in the 132-pound match.
Zach Freeze of Pelham earned a 14-0 major decision over Jack Dobbins of Clay-Chalkville in the 145-pound match. Cody Wehunt of Pelham earned a 10-0 major decision over Nicholas Weldon of Clay-Chalkville in the 160-pound match. Nolan Vinson of Pelham pinned Clayton Hughes of Clay-Chalkville in the 170-pound match.
The Panthers’ John Brito-Cuevas pinned Tyon Hardy of Clay-Chalkville in the 195-pound match. Chris Shiflett of Pelham pinned Deshaun Motley of Clay-Chalkville in the 220-pound match. Nicholas Farren of Pelham earned a 8-2 decision over Josh Melton of Clay-Chalkville in the heavyweight match.
Stephen Janoulis of Pelham won his match by forfeit.
Pelham defeated host Moody 52-21. Ten Panthers won their individual matches against Moody.
Barnett pinned Alex Cole of Moody in the 113-pound match. Furman Taylor of Pelham pinned Harley Gardner of Moody in the 120-pound match. Mason Tortorich of Pelham earned a technical fall against Tyler Glass of Moody in the 126-pound match.
Freeze earned a technical fall against Brett Staggs of Moody in the 145-pound match. Janoulis earned a 12-11 decision over Vida Phan of Moody in the 152-pound match. Wehunt pinned Jacob McQueen of Moody in the 160-pound match.
Vinson earned a 7-5 decision over Josh McQueen of Moody in the 170-pound match. Tre Maynard pinned Cameron Roehm of Moody in the 182-pound match.
Chase Gospondareck, Robert Welch, Seth Kelosky and Kenny Hoover of Pelham each won their matches by forfeit.
