Beaglers brought dogs from four states to compete in licensed field trials at the Coosa Valley Beagle Club in Harpersville last weekend.
The trials were licensed by the American Kennel Club and featured dogs from Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. The Gundog Beagles were judged on their ability to trail rabbits in enclosures used by the club at the Old Baker Farm in Harpersville.
County Commissioner Larry Dillard, who serves as secretary, treasurer and field trial secretary for the club, said the event is highly anticipated by the group’s 35 local members and others who travel from out of town to take part.
&uot;It’s a chance for your dogs to perform in competition with other dogs,&uot; Dillard said. &uot;It’s also a chance to meet other Beaglers and to enjoy the camaraderie.&uot;
