A criminal information charge has been filed against Christopher Michael Hyatt, 27, of Pelham.

The charges were announced by U.S. Attorney for the Northern District Alice H. Martin and Christopher Murphy, Special Agent in Charge, U.S. Secret Service.

The Criminal Information charges that Hyatt possessed a U.S. Army identification card that was produced without lawful authority.

The card was stolen from the Army recruiting center in Hoover and was later found in Hyatt’s possession bearing his name and photograph.

The maximum fine is $250,000, and Hyatt could face up to 15 years in prison.

&8220;This is a crime and we will vigorously prosecute those who unlawfully possess items such as altered military identifications,&8221; Martin said.

The case is being investigated by special agents of the U.S. Secret Service with the assistance of the Pelham Police Department and Chief Allen Wade.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura D. Hodge is prosecuting the case.
