Girl’s Tuesday night hoops: Lady Warriors dominate Panthers

The Thompson Lady Warriors came out strong Tuesday night against the Pelham Panthers, taking the lead early and holding on for a 68-51 victory over Pelham.
The Warriors were led in scoring by Rhonda Watts, who finished with 22 points. Tamara Williams played aggressively for Thompson, scoring 20 points and finishing with eight rebounds, five assists and five steals.
The Lady Warriors travel to Hueytown this Thursday, while the Panthers head to Vestavia Hills on Friday night.
Hoover, 60, Spain Park 39
The Hoover Lady Bucs’ hot shooting in the second half proved to be too much for the Lady Jags’, as Hoover went on to win, 60-39 Tuesday night.
The Bucs shot 13-of-16 in the second half, while the Jags could only manage 6-of-24 in the last two periods and 12-of 42 in the game.
Tiaren Young paced the Jags in scoring with 16 points while teammate Ashley Boler added eight points and eight rebounds.
Vestavia Hills 49, Oak Mountain 28
The Vestavia Hills Rebels advanced their record to 9-1 on the season as they defeated the Oak Mountain Eagles Tuesday night, 49-28.
Lauren Miller led the Eagles in scoring with eight points.
Montevallo 46, Holt 9
The Montevallo Lady Bulldogs held Holt to single digits Tuesday night, winning easily, 46-9.
The Bulldogs enjoyed a 24-2 lead at halftime, shutting out Holt in the first eight minutes of the game.
Both Candace Fields and Lakisha Brown finished with 12 points for Montevallo, while Rachel Willingham added 10 in the win.
Fultondale 51, Chelsea 41
Fultondale proved the be too much for the Chelsea Hornets Tuesday night, winning 51-41.
Chelsea was paced in the losing efforet by Charlie Bowman, who finished with 12 points for the Hornets.
