The Briarwood Lady Lions dismantled Woodlawn, 54-28, Friday afternoon in the championship game of the Shades Mountain Christmas Classic.

The win moved the Lions&8217; record to 12-1 on the season and gave head coach Jim Brown his 298th win at Briarwood&8217;s helm.

Andee Matthews finished with 20 points for the Lions, hitting 8-of-8 from the free-throw line as she earned the MVP award for the tournament.

&8220;Andee had a terrific tournament for us,&8221; Brown said. &8220;It&8217;s nice to see them give her that award. She deserves it.&8221;

Teammate Ruth Ketcham joined Matthews on the All-Tournament team, scoring 11 points in the final game before getting into foul trouble in the second half.

Brown said he was happy with his team&8217;s performance after a lackluster start in the first round of the tournament on Tuesday.

&8220;We got back to pre-Christmas form on Thursday and today,&8221; he said. &8220;I thought we played very, very well.&8221;

As for nearing the 300-win mark, Brown said his eyes were focused on the team&8217;s games this week not on the milestone.

The Lady Lions (12-2) fell to Homewood in the first round of the Metro Independent Tournament, 57-56, on Monday night. Dandi Ammons and Matthews netted 16 points each for Briarwood in the loss.

Oak Mountain 65, Chilton County 15: The Oak Mountain Lady Eagles dismantled Chilton County Friday night, 65-15, in the final game of the Spirit of Christmas Tournament on their home-court.

The Eagles moved to 8-8 on the season with the help of forward Tiffany McKinney, who had nine points and 10 rebounds for Oak Mountain.

Catherine Wise added eight points and five rebounds in the win over Chilton County (3-7)

Kingwood 55, Meadowview 38: Junior standout Hannah Phillips netted a season-high 37 points for the Lady Lions as Kingwood defeated Meadowview, 55-38, on the road.

Phillips finished with four three-pointers as the Lady Lions moved to 11-2 on the season. Kingwood&8217;s Kayla Cates contributed 10 points and nine rebounds in the victory.

Childersburg 67, Montevallo 48: The Montevallo Lady Bulldogs could not contain Childersburg&8217;s Rekita Dawson Friday night, falling 67-48.

Dawson finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds as Montevallo fell to 8-8 on the season.

Lakisha Brown led the way for Montevallo, netting 25 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. Teammate Candace Fields added 14 points and five rebounds
