Falcons drop match against Francis Marion

The University of Montevallo volleyball team fell to Francis Marion University 3-0 on the road in a Peach Belt Conference match Nov. 4.
Montevallo struggled offensively as the Falcons hit just .070 as a team for the match as the Patriots swept the Falcons 25-21, 25-20, 25-22.
Sophomore Michelle Carle led Montevallo (13-16 overall, 4-9 in Peach Belt Conference) with 13 kills, six digs, a block and a .433 attack percentage.
Senior setter Anna Garrison had another double-double with 28 assists and 15 digs. Sophomore Many Ati had 10 kills, four digs and a block.
Senior Rachel Wotitzky led the Falcons with 17 digs, while senior Jessica Guidry chipped in 10 digs.
In an error-filled match, Francis Marion’s setter only mustered 21 assists during the three games. The Patriots’ top hitter had just 10 kills. Montevallo gave up eight service aces and had six service errors. Francis Marion hit just .113 as a team in the match.
The Falcons return to action Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. as they travel to Peach Belt Conference foe UNC-Pembroke.
