The Shelby County Wildcats and Montevallo Bulldogs split a double-header Friday afternoon in Columbiana.

The Wildcats came out strong in the first inning of the first game, scoring nine runs and going on to win easily by a final score of 15-5.

The Bulldogs rebounded in the second game, however, coming away with a 5-3 victory to round out the series.

Six of the Wildcats&8217; runs in the first contest came off of errors. The Bulldogs&8217; Zac Stansell took the loss on the mound, pitching two full innings and finishing with four strikeouts and one walk.

Stansell finished the game hitting 2-of-3 from the plate, scoring one run and two RBI&8217;s.

Taylor Gaddis pitched a complete game in the second matchup, finishing with eight strikeouts and six walks to help the Bulldogs earn the victory.

Senior Casey Smith was 2-of-3 batting with one homerun, two doubles, two runs batted in and two runs scored.

Gaddis struck out the final two Wildcat batters in the seventh inning to give his team the victory.

Jefferson Christian 9, Cornerstone Christian 6: Ty Youngblood finished the game with two hits and three RBIs, but it wasn&8217;t enough to help the CCS Chargers defeat Jefferson Christian Monday afternoon.

The Chargers combined for four hits in the 9-6 loss.

Pelham 9, Hewitt-Trussville 1: The Pelham Panthers soundly defeated Hewitt-Trussville Saturday 9-1 with the help of pitcher Andrew Davis, who pitched five innings of shut-out baseball and struck-out four batters.

Chelsea 7, Vincent 2: The Chelsea Hornets continued their early-season dominance last Thursday with a 7-2 victory over the Vincent Yellow Jackets.

Pitchers Kennessey and Yance combined for 10 strikeouts for the Hornets in the victory, which moved Chelsea to 5-0 on the season.

Moody 6, Briarwood Christian 2:

A day after losing to Moody in the championship game of the Springville Invitational Tournament 10-2, the Briarwood Lions defeated the same Moody team 8-6 in the tournament&8217;s winner&8217;s bracket game.

Briarwood scored three runs in the fourth inning and four in the fifth inning to earn the win.

Briarwood&8217;s John Maiden was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate while Jeremy Hall finished 1-of-2 and scored three runs for the Lions.

Tuscaloosa Academy 4, Shelby Academy 3: The Shelby Academy Raiders were edged by Tuscaloosa Academy on Saturday 4-3.

The Raiders batted a cold 6-of-27 in the game. The loss dropped their record to 1-2 on the season
