Charles Edward McCombs

Charles Edward McCombs, 65, died Sunday, March 12, 2006, at home.

He was born Sept. 27, 1940, in Birmingham to the late Charles Adison McCombs and Bertha Trotter McCombs/Dewey Edward Reese and Maud Trotter Reese. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbiana and owner of McCombs Freight Lines for many years before his retirement. He was actively involved and a strong supporter of Shelby County High School athletics. He will long be remembered for his amazing love of people.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patsy Dorough McCombs; his daughters, Shelly McCombs (Dennis) Wade and Charlton McCombs (Frank) Couch; his sister, Dot Reese (Jack) Vines; six grandchildren, Regan Merrell Wade, Connor Charles Wade, Callie Brooke Wade, Anna Morgan Couch, Adison Couch and Alexa Couch; and an extended family of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.

Service was March 14 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Columbiana with burial following in Pinelawn Gardens, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Shelby County High School Athletic Department or to the First Baptist Church of Columbiana&8217;s Building in Faith Fund
