Fine Arts scholarship gala set for weekend

Art, music, theatrical reviews, fine food and good company will highlight a night of entertainment at the Fine Arts Scholarship Gala 2006 on Saturday, April 8, at the University of Montevallo.
The annual gala features the talents of UM&8217;s art, music, theater and communications students. Proceeds from the event will be awarded as scholarships to fine arts students.
The evening will begin with highlights from visual arts classes selected and displayed by Clifton Pearson, chair of the art department, while patrons enjoy wine service. Wine service is from 6:30-7 p.m. in Anna Irvin Hall on campus.
Following the art viewing will be the dinner buffet from 7-7:45 p.m. While guests enjoy the banquet, student music ensembles will perform.
At intermission, guests will be invited to walk the candlelit path from Anna Irvin Hall to LeBaron Recital Hall, where the evening&8217;s entertainment will continue.
A mix of music recitals featuring choral, instrumental and operatic ensembles directed by Joe Ardovino, Gary Packwood and Charles Wood will be presented.
Guests may purchase a patron&8217;s ticket, a sponsor&8217;s table or a benefactor&8217;s table.
A patron&8217;s ticket is $75. It is open seating and includes a $50 tax-deductible scholarship contribution.
A sponsor&8217;s table (eight seats) is $600. Sponsors have preferential reserved seating for the concert and theatrical review. These tables include a $400 tax-deductible scholarship contribution.
A benefactor&8217;s table (eight seats) is $1,000. Benefactors have stage-side reserved seating for the concert and theatrical review and are recognized in the program. Benefactor&8217;s tables include an $800 tax-deductible scholarship contribution. Tickets may be purchased by cash, check or credit card.
