Dominance seems to come easy to the Oak Mountain Lady Eagles tennis team.

OMHS has out-muscled the majority of its competition this season, including a near sweep of the inaugural Shelby County Tennis Tournament.

Amidst a very talented team sits one junior who has already made her impact on the Lady Eagles squad.

Oak Mountain head coach Toni Leo credits Alli Nolen as one of the key leaders for her team as the Eagles chase after a Class 6A state title.

&8220;Alli is one of the quiet leaders on our team,&8221; Leo said. &8220;She is so coachable and is very much a team player.&8221;

Nolen already has pair of state title under her belt, having won the Class 6A singles title at the No. 3 spot and the doubles title at the No. 1 spot her sophomore year.

&8220;I&8217;m very competitive,&8221; Nolen said. &8220;We&8217;re playing really well right now as a team.&8221;

Leo said Nolen is a coach&8217;s dream come true.

&8220;She compliments everything I try to do with this team,&8221; she said. &8220;She&8217;s down to earth and cares about each of her teammates.&8221;

Leo expects Nolen to take over the No. 1 singles spot in her senior year and continue to dominate at the No. 1 doubles spot.

&8220;She brings so much to our team,&8221; Leo said. &8220;We&8217;re very lucky to have her.&8221;

Nolen has found success outside of the high school courts, regularly placing high in junior tournaments when she&8217;s not winning matches for the Lady Eagles.

Two weekends ago she finished second at the Alabama Junior Clay Court Open, competing in the 18-year-old division despite being only 16.

&8220;I like playing up,&8221; she said. &8220;It helps me work on my game and gives me better competition.&8221;

Nolen has aspirations to play tennis at the collegiate level, but is still unsure where she will continue her career.

&8220;I would love to play somewhere,&8221; she said. &8220;But it&8217;s still kind of up in the air.&8221;

Leo said she feels confident that with player like Nolen on her squad, winning a state championship is well within the Lady Eagles&8217; grasp
