Traffic signals a must on 280

Over the past few weeks, construction crews have begun work on installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Highway 280 and Highway 43.
It&8217;s about time.
Since beginning work in Columbiana last May, I have used the Highway 280 route almost every day to commute from my apartment in Homewood.
During that time, I have driven past three horrific accidents being cleaned up in or near that intersection.
While this intersection is not the only dangerous one along the Highway 280 corridor between Birmingham and Chelsea, it is by far one of the worst.
It took a lot of noise by the local community and nearby city governments to have this signal installed, and it will likely take just as long to put in additional signals at other intersections along the route.
As a daily Highway 280 commuter, I encourage anyone who is concerned about the safety hazards surrounding these uncontrolled intersections to make their voice heard.
If you are a resident in Harpersville, Vincent, Chelsea and the majority of North Shelby County. You should be concerned about the lack of signals along Highway 280.
As more commuters hit the road between Shelby County and Birmingham, serious traffic accidents and fatalities are sure to follow if nothing is done to control these intersections
