SPECIAL TO THE REPORTER

Fifty years had passed since many of Vincent High School&8217;s class of 1956 had seen each other &8212; but you never would&8217;ve known it at the reunion held Saturday, May 6, on Vincent&8217;s campus.

Old friends greeted each other as if it were senior year all over again. They shared pictures of children, grandchildren (and maybe even a few great-grands) as they caught up on each other&8217;s lives. And they fondly remembered what many still count as one of the best years of their lives &8212; senior year at &8220;dear ole VHS.&8221;

Of the 66 graduates, 50 made it back for the reunion, coming from as far away as Oregon to enjoy a meet-and-greet with classmates, a tour of the school led by Principal Gary Minnick, dinner in the cafeteria and fifties music by disc jockey Rick Perkins.

Thirteen members of the class of &8216;56 are deceased, and their friends remembered them with a moment of silence during the reunion.

After dinner, Mrs. Fannie Hinds, a legendary teacher in the community, called roll. As each graduate stood, they received a special memory book and a class portrait from yesteryear.

The reunion closed with the singing of Vincent&8217;s alma mater. Asked for any closing words of wisdom, the graduates of 56 had this to say, &8220;Go Yellow Jackets.&8221;
