Grind time: Annual BUMP race set for Oak Mountain State Park

The 12th annual Birmingham Urban Mountain Bikers&8217; BUMP and GRIND mountain bike race will be held this Sunday at Oak Mountain State Park.

The event is considered the largest mountain bike race in Alabama.

More than 600 youth, beginner and professional riders will compete in three separate races during the event for $10,000 in cash prizes.

The cross country course includes an inclined climb of more than 600 feet, with the expert and pro racers competing in two 17-mile loops and beginners racing on an eight mile loop.

The infamous &8220;Blood Rock&8221; offers riders difficult challenges and spectators a great place to watch the race.

To celebrate the event&8217;s 12th year, there will also be an

expo area focused on central Alabama culture
