CALERA – Calera police have charged a registered sex offender from Chilton County with first-degree sexual abuse and indecent exposure.
Johnny Alvin Rooks is being held at the Shelby County Jail on a bond of $30,000. He was booked Oct. 18.
Police arrested Rooks Oct. 15, a day after a Calera woman accused Rooks of exposing himself, fondling her breasts and ejaculating inside her home, Calera police Lt. Chuck Holcomb said.
The alleged incident happened Oct. 14 at about 2:30 p.m. in a trailer park near 10th Street, Holcomb said.
Rooks’ residence at 6249 County Road 151 has a Calera address but is located in Chilton County, Holcomb said.
Rooks is on the sex offender registry for a previous incident of first-degree sexual abuse, according to the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office.
