The Coosa Valley Academy baseball team defeated Dixie Academy 7-1 in a key region game April 17 to secure the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Alabama Independent Schools Association Class 1A baseball playoffs.

Coosa Valley will host Sumter Academy in the first round. Cornerstone Christian School earned the No. 3 seed in the playoffs and will travel to Jackson Academy in the first round.

Jared Mims went the distance on the mound for the Rebels in their win over Dixie Academy, striking out seven.

Will Bullen and Phillip Neal led Coosa Valley at the plate with two singles and a double each.
