Shelby County high school football teams are getting a little extra practice this month as a number of squads participate in 7-on-7 passing camps around the area.
The Pelham Panthers and Spain Park Jaguars competed in the Parkside Ultimate 7-on-7 football tournament on June 27 at Spain Park High School, with Pelham winning the tourney and claiming a spot in the 7-on-7 state championships at Troy University in July 27-28.
Briarwood Christian, Calera, Chelsea, Thompson and Oak Mountain were other AHSAA squads competing in 7-on-7 camps last week. The five teams took part in a camp at Briarwood Christian June 27 and 29.

Yancey and the Lions will compete in a three-day camp July 19-21 at Russleville while Oak Mountain will participate in a camp July 16-18 at Birmingham-Southern College.
Chelsea will head to Mountain Brook for 7-on-7 action July 17-19, while Calera will travel to Maplesville July 19-20 for a camp.
