Montevallo men’s soccer ranked fifth in region poll

The University of Montevallo men’s soccer team is ranked fifth in the first NCAA Division II Southeast Region poll, which was released Oct. 20.
The region poll will help determine the six teams that will qualify for the postseason. Those top six teams will advance on to the Southeast Region tournament with the opportunity to advance to the national quarterfinals and then the Final Four, which will be held Dec. 1-3 at the University of West Florida.
The Falcons (9-3-3) were the second-highest Peach Belt Conference team as they were just one spot behind fourth-ranked Flagler College. Lander University came in at No. 7, while UNC-Pembroke and Clayton State University rounded out the top 10 at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.
Montevallo has just two games left in the regular season as the Falcons host UNC-Pembroke this Saturday before traveling to Georgia Southwestern on Saturday, Oct. 29.
Coker College holds down the top spot with a 12-1 record against region competition. Anderson University and Mars Hill College follow at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
The Falcons return to action Saturday at 3:30 p.m. as they host UNC-Pembroke. The match will also be Senior Day for three Falcons.
