The Shelby County School Board voted to approve the salary for new superintendent Randy Fuller during its meeting on Thursday.

The board voted to pay Fuller a base salary of $130,000 a year with an option for four incentives worth $4,000 apiece.

The board set the four incentive bonuses after meeting with Fuller and discussing his goals for the school system.

The board voted that any pay raises in Fuller&8217;s salary will be directly proportional to teachers&8217; raises.

Board member Peg Hill voted against the new salary, stating that she felt the incentives were unfair to an incoming superintendent.

The new salary will go into effect when Fuller takes office in January
