Pelham police continue to investigate a shooting at the Green Park South Motor Home Park that left one woman dead and two suspects on the run.

Pelham police Lieutenant Larry Palmer confirmed Monday that one of those suspects, Roberto Correu Escalona, eventually surrendered to Homewood police at a business on West Valley Avenue only hours after the murder allegedly occurred.

After surrendering to police, Escalona was taken to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. Palmer confirmed that Pelham officers took custody of the suspect at the hospital.

The second suspect, Luis Enrique Martinez, remained at large at press time.

Pelham police dispatchers received a call for assistance from Lot 15 at the park, and upon arriving found a Caucasian female dead.

Hours later, investigators were able to secure first-degree murder warrant for both suspects.

Palmer said that upon release from the hospital, Escalona would be booked through the Pelham city jail and into the Shelby County jail.

Officers are searching for a green Dodge Caravan with a possible Alabama license plate of 1D568Z.

Pelham police ask that anyone with information in this case to call 205-620-6550.
