Evangel Christian defeated the Rocket City Cowboys at home 66-8 last Friday night.

The first quarter was a contest with Evangel pulling to a 16-8 lead. But from that point on it was all Evangel.

Evangel scored 20 points in the second quarter, 16 points in the third quarter and 14 points in the fourth. Rocket City couldn&8217;t manage to get up off the launch pad to score a single point in the second, third or fourth quarter.

Evangel had 13 first down to 5 for Rocket City; rushed 28 times for 237 yards to 25 times for 57 yards for Rocket City; and passed for 85 yards to 53 for Rocket City.

Evangel was penalized 33 yards to 60 for their opponents.

Off to a quick start in 2006, Evangel will have an open date for Friday, Sept. 1.

HOPE 24, TUSC. H.E. 6

Hope Christian School defeated the Tuscaloosa Home Educators 24-6 Friday night.

Hope&8217;s Joseph Walkley carried the ball 18 times for 106 yards including one 13-yard touchdown dash.

Isaiah Drew scored for Hope on carries of 50 and 15 yards, while Brandon Culpepper scored from 1-yard out.

Drew and Walkley had eight tackles each.

Hope will next play the Whitehouse junior varsity on Sept. 1 and the Whitehouse varsity on Sept. 2. Both games will be played at home.
