When his daddy David Palmer broke big runs for the Crimson Tide, everyone said, &8220;The duce is loose.&8221;

Davin Palmer is giving Chelsea fan those same thrills.

The Class 5A Region 5 Chelsea Hornets are buzzing with a 2-0 overall record with 1-0 in region play, following a big win 44-12 over region opponent Talladega at home last Friday night.

Palmer had what Chelsea head football coach Wade Waldrop called a &8220;nice night&8221; rushing 24 times for 335 yards and five touchdowns.

Previously, the Hornets downed Dallas County out of Region 3 on the road, but this week they travel to face regional opponent John Carroll.

&8220;I was real pleased with the way our kids played and thought our kids were very physical,&8221; said Waldrop.

He said he knew Talladega to be a physical team.

Waldrop also had praise for his offensive line, other backs and receivers. &8220;I think our whole team did a great job and our defense played well,&8221; he said.

Chelsea held Talladega to 210 yards total offense while putting up 486 yards of their own.

The Hornets collected 21 first downs to 9 for Talladega.

For the night, Coty McLaughlin went two for five for 18 yards at quarterback and rushed 11 for 120 yards.

Palmer caught both McLaughlin passes for 18 yards.

Palmer scored on runs of 4,3,35,5 and 8-yards each. Blake Yance scored on a 13-yard run. In addition to five PAT&8217;s, Matt Jordan kicked a 22-yard field goal.

Talladega managed one touchdown in the first quarter and one in the fourth to account for its 12 points. Both touchdowns were the result of big plays, a 75-yard run and a 66-yard fumble return
