Obie R. Moore

Obie R. Moore was a life-long resident of Shelby County.
He graduated from Thompson High School in 1955. He owned and operated Alabaster Exxon Service station for 20 years. He also managed Shell Stations in Alabaster and Montevallo. He owned Moore&8217;s trucking and several other entrepreneurial ventures. He received the Regional Outstanding Dealer Award from Exxon in 1974. He served several years in the Exxon Advisory Council. He was a founder of the Alabaster Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Alabama Historical Society. He was a founding member of Shelby Academy School and served on the board of directors for 14 years. He and his wife, Sheror, co-founded a home ministry called &8220;Light Unto My Path,&8221; in their historic home in Montevallo in 1993. He was a member in good standing of the End-Time Handmaids and Servants (Gwen Shaw) Jasper, Ark. He was a member of Amazing Grace Church. In 2004 he was presented with the Shining Star Award, from Morning Star Ministries in Jemison. His greatest accomplishment was that of being a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and uncle. He gave new meaning to the word &8220;friend.&8221;
He is survived by his wife, Sheror Caton Moore; sons, Obie David (Cynthia) Moore of Montevallo and Jim (Debbie) Moore of Alabaster; grandchildren, Mari (Chris) Collins and Toni Moore of Montevallo, Dana (Tre) Brannum of Alabaster and Sherry Pappas of Bentonville, Ark.; great-grandchildren, Ali Pappas of Bentonville, Ark., Austin Collins of Montevallo and Mallory Brannum of Alabaster; sisters, Reba (Herbert) Sims of Wilsonville, Elaine (Kennith) Bunn of Mooretown and Linda (Cowboy) Johnson of Helena; brother, Paul (Linda) Moore of Columbiana and brother-in-law Kenneth (Lucretia) Caton of Linden; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Melba Reid.
