Eagles stuff Stampede

The Oak Mountain Eagles put the brakes on the Paul Bryant Stampede 28-7 last Friday night in a much-needed win.

Eagles head coach Jerry Hood said his team blocked well against Paul Bryant resulting in 285 yards rushing.

Individually, Joel Holmes rushed 10 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns and Zack Fowler rushed eight times for 93 yards and one touchdown.

Quarterback Richie Fordham completed 14 of 24 passes for 117 yards.

Other than one 3-yard run for a score in the second quarter, this contest was all Oak Mountain.

Hood said his defense allowed the Stampede one pass for nearly 30 yards. Actually, Paul Bryant had a total of 27 yards passing for the night.

The Stampede was also limited to 163 yards rushing.

The Eagles spread the scoring out with one touchdown in each quarter.

Fordham put the Eagles on the scoreboard first with a 28-yard run. Holmes scored on runs of 6 and 23 yards in the second and third quarter.

Fowler scored on a 38 yard run in the fourth. Ben Phillips added all four PATs.

Paul Bryant&8217;s Deonte Hamner provided the only spark for the Stampede with a 3-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Following the non-region encounter, the Eagles (2-3, 1-2) will travel to play Carver,-Birmingham this Friday night in a region match up
