Valley Schools in Pelham will be dressing up in Halloween costumes to raise money for juvenile arthritis awareness.

The annual &8220;Trick-or-Treat Trot,&8221; a 1.5 mile Family Fun Run will take place on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006 at 9 a.m. at Pelham City Park.

In addition to the Fun Run, the event will feature costumes, music, door prizes, refreshments and entertainment. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Arthritis Foundation to fund research and programs in Alabama for children with juvenile arthritis.

Ginger Aaron, physical education teacher and Valley&8217;s coordinator for Run for Arthritis said her school got involved with RFA because a student, Sydney Hood, was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

&8220;We take pride knowing that through the RFA program our students have a better understanding of what children like Sydney have to go through everyday and how they can make a difference in improving lives of those with arthritis,&8221; said Aaron.

Since Valley began the Trick or Treat Trot four years ago they have raised $14,000 to support arthritis research and community programs
