The Chelsea Hornets faced a real gut check last Friday night, gaining a hard fought 30-27 win over region foe Moody at home.

&8220;I thought we had a great week of preparation,&8221; said Chelsea head football coach Wade Waldrop. &8220;I think that was the difference in the game.&8221;

The Hornets led 17-7 at the half, but Moody roared back to make it a 3-point contest in the second half.

Waldrop credited his defense for coming up with four take aways.

The Chelsea defense held Moody to 139 yards on the ground and 198 through the air for 337 yards total offense.

The Hornets rushed for 243 yards and passed for 63 yards for 306 yards total offense.

Leading the Hornets was Davin Palmer with 161 yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries. He scored on runs of 4, 5, 3, and 53 yards.

Palmer is already at 1,517 yards for the season.

The win over Moody sets up a road trip to face another region opponent in Sylacauga this Friday night. Waldrop said at stake will be a home playoff game.

Chelsea is 6-1,5-0 in 5A football. Their next opponent just lost to Briarwood 42-20.
