The Alabama State Poetry Society held its fall meeting at the University of Montevallo in Montevallo on Oct. 21. The winners of the ASPS Fall Poetry Contests were announced following the luncheon.

First place winners included Susan Luther of Huntsville, for &8220;Crow, Crone, Crown&8221; and for &8220;Cornucopia&8221;; Jeri Hardesty of Brierfield, for &8220;Inspirational Elements&8221; and Joseph Whitten of Odenville for &8220;Evensong Meditation.&8221;

Second place winners were Joseph Whitten of Odenville; Sheila Mau of Cropwell; Donna Jean Tennis of Montgomery, and Grady Sue Saxon of Leeds.

Third place awards went to Sarah Fechter of Trussville; Frances Cleary Wittmeier of Tallassee; Joseph Whitten of Odenville; Susan Tolle of Vestavia Hills; Kathleen Thompson of Birmingham; and Jeri Hardesty of Brierfield.

Donna Jean Tennis of Montgomery received a fourth place award.

Honorable mentions were made to Grady Sue Saxon of Leeds; Jeri Hardesty of Brierfield; Joseph Whitten of Odenville; Mary Halliburton of Hope Hull; Scott Alcorn of New Market; and Sheila Mau of Cropwell
