The Oak Mountain Eagles ended the 2006 football season on a positive note defeating Erwin 52-14 at home and improving their overall record to 5-5.

In their last outing of the season, the Eagles poured it on early leading 21-6 in the first quarter and 38-6 at the half. The Eagles coasted from their outscoring Erwin 14-8 in the third quarter.

It was the Erwin Eagles, who scored first and shocked Oak Mountain&8217;s homecoming crowd with an 83-yard interception return.

But it was all Oak Mountain from there.

The home standing Eagles produced score after score, Nick Anderson on a 15-yard run, Richie Fordham on a 69-yard run, Michael Connell on an 11-yard pass from Fordham.

But it didn&8217;t stop there. Fordham scored on a 28-yard run, Michael Nordyke took in a 15-yard TD pass from Fordham, Mark Caldwell kicked a 36-yard field goal and Kent Fullington returned an interception 40 yards.

The visiting Eagles squeezed in an 18-yard touchdown pass play before Oak Mountain slammed the door on the scoring parade with a Joel Holmes 1-yard plunge.

The big win over Erwin follows a knockout blow by Hoover Bucs that eliminated any hope of Oak Mountain making the playoffs this season.

In their last outig, the Eagels ground out 282 yards rushing and 119 yards passing while holding their opponents to 146 yards on the ground and 118 yards passing.

Not helping their cause, Eriwin fumbled five times and lost three and were penalized for 72 yards.

Oak Mountain did not commit a turnover
