Funeral service for Gertis Collins Hughes of Dadeville, formerly of Alabaster, was at Concord Baptist Church in Chilton County Wednesday, Nov 22, 2006 at 1 p.m. Burial followed in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Pate officiated. Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006 at Langley Funeral Home.

Born on Sunday, Oct. 6, 1918, Mrs. Hughes passed away on Monday, Nov. 20, 2006 at the age of 88. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Shelby County.

Surviving are her daughters, Janice LaFollette of Dadeville, Deborah Wilson of Alabaster and Paula McCombs of Pelham; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Amos Hughes.
