The Vincent Yellow Jackets, playing in just their second game of the season, fell to Shelby County 53-22 last Thursday night.

Kayla Williams led the Wildcats (5-4) with 16 points. Jessica Pennington added 13 points and Leah Bland contributed with 14 assists.

Shonda Dates led Vincent (0-3) with 14 points.

&8220;It&8217;s a hard lesson learned,&8221; said Vincent coach &8220;Stephanie Ledlow of the loss to the Wildcats. She said her team got off to a late start because they had to cancel early games due to the continued success of the football team.

Shelby County coach Leroy Miles said his team got off to a slow start, but played better in the second half. &8220;We played Vincent this summer in a camp over in Calera and it was a tough game there… But Vincent is an improved team and always coming to play tough when it comes to Shelby County.&8221;

He said Bland did a good job getting everyone involved.

He also said Pennington and Williams did an outstanding job shooting the ball and Keasha Pickett came off the bench to give the team a spark.

Mountain Brook 48, Oak Mountain 44: The Eagles (3-4) were led by Lauren Miller with 15 points and one rebound while Nicole Kelley added 13 points and eight rebounds.

Thompson 63, Oak Mountain 49: In this game played on Nov. 28, Miller led the Eagles with 22 points and two rebounds while Tiffaney McKinney added 12 points and two rebounds. Natasha Hill had eight rebounds. Sarah Silverstein led the Spartans with 11 points.

Thompson 90, Jackson-Olin 21: The Lady Warriors (5-2)

pulled away quickly leading 50-14 in the first half of this Friday night encounter. Zorah Williams poured in 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Warriors. Lauren Spouse had 15 points and Rhonda Watts and Renita Lewis had 10 each. Jackson-Olin was led by Jibri Hooper with 11 points.

Parkview (Ga.) 58, Spain Park 37: On Friday the Lady Jags fell to 5-4 on the season. Stephanie Dominguez and Megan Dunn led the Lady Jags with 10 points each.

Pelham 70, Briarwood 49: The Lady Panthers are off to a 6-2 start following Saturday&8217;s win over the Lady Lions. Melanie Short led the Lady Panthers with 20 points and seven rebounds while Whitney Hudson doubled up with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Lauren Parks and Whiney Dailey each scored 12 for Briarwood.

Montevallo 54, Billingsley 24: The Lady Bulldogs (2-0) were paced in this Friday contest by Jordan Archer with 13 points and Jahne Crymes with 19 boards.

Montevallo 57, Calera 44: Candice Fields led the Dawgs in this contest with 20 points, while Archer grabbed nine rebounds. Fields leads the Dawgs overall with an average of 13.5 points per game.

Chelsea 46, Vincent 22: In this Tuesday contest, the Hornets were led by Morgan Arnold with 10 points and nine rebounds. Sydney Arnold followed her with six points and 12 rebounds.
