W. E. Cox, Jr.

W.E. Cox, Jr., 76, passed away on Dec. 30 at his home in Westover. He was born in Hamilton on Nov. 28, 1930 to W.E. Cox Sr. and Maggie Bell Ballard Cox. He finished high school in Russellville where he was a football letterman. W.E. served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954, then lived and worked in the Birmingham area for 52 years. He retired in 1998 as an estimator/buyer in steel fabrication. He married Martha Joan Pair in 1960 and fathered four children, three daughters and one son.

He has six grandchildren.

W.E. personally built his log house in Westover and lived there for ten years.

His hobbies were hunting and fishing, giving tractor rides to grandchildren and cultivating a small garden.

Martha Pair Cox, wife; Lorriane Cox (Chuck) Fancher, Elaine Cox (Mac) Abston, David Douglas Cox, Jannine Cox (Brian) Gore, children; Jack B. Cox, brother; Shelly Fancher, Kyle Fancher, Avan Abston, Ethan Abston, Eli Abston and Preston Gore, grandchildren. Visitation was Tuesday, Jan. 2 at Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home in Columbiana from 6-8

p.m.
