After losing their 14-year-old son, Anderson Gutiérrez Aguilar, in a tragic ATV accident in Alabaster, the Gutierrez Lopez family are looking to the community for support to raise funds in order to send his body to El Salvador.
The Gutiérrez López family have created a GoFundMe page to assist with the costs of repatriating their son’s body to El Salvador.
“We are the Gutiérrez López family, we are experiencing the most difficult tragedy of losing a 14-year-old son, Anderson Gutiérrez, in a tragic accident,” read a post by the Gutiérrez López family on the GoFundMe. “We are asking for your help to be able to repatriate the body to El Salvador.”
As of Tuesday, Feb. 2, the family has raised nearly $4,000 out of its $15,000 goal with 73 individuals donating funds for the transportation effort so far.
“We appreciate the support of so many families who today live with us in this pain,” the Gutiérrez López family said. “Any help, even the smallest, will be of great help to be able to carry out this painful process for everyone. God bless you and thank you very much.”
A Columbiana resident, Gutiérrez Aguilar died as a result of an ATV accident that occurred on Sunday, Feb. 2 in Alabaster.
The Alabaster Police Department received a call to assist the Alabaster Fire Department at the 90 block of May View Court where, upon arrival, officers discovered an unconscious juvenile who was being administered CPR.
According to the APD, preliminary investigations indicated that the incident was the result of a single ATV collision. Gutiérrez Aguilar was transported to Baptist Health Shelby Hospital where he succumbed to his injures. An additional juvenile was transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
“Our condolences and prayers are with the family during this time of tragedy,” Alabaster Chief of Police Curtis Rigney said in an official press release. “We are also praying for the community, officers, paramedics and others involved in this tragic incident.”
