MONTGOMERY – Haley Trotter will cap off her career in a Chelsea uniform by representing the state of Alabama as it takes on the best players from Mississippi.

Trotter earned a spot on the Alabama All-Star girls basketball team after she was selected the Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association’s Selection Committee to play in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic.

AHSADCA director JT Lawrence announced Trotter’s selection on Saturday, Feb. 1 along with 11 other players from across the state of Alabama.

Trotter will take the court against Mississippi’s best in the 35th edition of the Alabama Mississippi All-Star Classic on Saturday, March 8 at the University of South Alabama’s Mitchell Center.

Trotter is the reigning Shelby County Player of the Year for girls basketball and has continued to dominate this season for the No. 6 ranked Hornets ahead of the playoffs.

In the 2023-24 season, Trotter averaged a double-double of 18.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, good enough for the second-highest scoring average in the county while tying for the most rebounds in the county with 325. She also secured 52 blocks and 72 steals while playing in Chelsea’s aggressive defense.

During that time, she helped fuel a run to the Class 7A Elite Eight where the Hornets would only fall to eventual state runner-up Hewitt-Trussville.

In her senior year at Chelsea, Trotter has only kept dominating against Class 6A competition. She helped guide the Hornets to an undefeated 6-0 run through Class 6A, Area 8 to win the regular season area title and a 20-8 overall record in the regular season.

Trotter has also showed up in big games, including 33 points in a win over Mississippi’s Neshoba Central, 23 points in both area play meetings against Pelham and a 25 and 12 night on the road against Spain Park on Jan. 9.

Trotter also played in the North-South All-Star Game last summer, dropping 12 points while playing against some of the best rising seniors from the southern half of the state.

A Shelton State commit, Trotter has been an All-County First Team selection in each of the last two seasons and earned a Class 7A All-State Second Team spot in 2024.
