HELENA – Helena residents can set their sights on a new flavor taking over the town with Wingstop preparing to open a new location in the city soon.
The national chicken wing chain will open its doors at 253 Helena Road, Suite E, which was the former residence to Papa Murphy’s, which closed its doors at the end of 2023.
It will be situated along a busy stretch of Helena Road that features Chick-fil-A, Freddy’s, Dunkin Donuts, Waffle House and more.
Founded in 1994, Wingstop is a franchise that features a variety of distinctive boneless and bone-in wing flavors to go along with other staples such as their chicken sandwich, seasoned fries and other sides.
Wings can be tossed in flavors like Hawaiian, Spicy Korean Q, Louisiana Rub, Original Hot, Cajun, Atomic and others. In addition, any chicken sandwich can be made with the wing flavors offered.
The chain’s fries can also be order in a variety of styles outside of their normal seasoned fries, including Cheese Fries, Louisiana Voodoo Fries and Buffalo Ranch Fries. They also offer the opportunity to order their Cajun Fried Corn as a side, as well.
Wingstop began offering franchises in 1997, and by 2002, had served one billion wings. The chain strives to give customers a flavorful experience with their fresh wings, offering dine-in, carryout and delivery options.
The Helena location is set to be the second location in Shelby County, with the other one opening in Inverness Corners in 2020.
As a whole, the state of Alabama plays host to 23 locations scattered throughout the state.
No opening date is set for the new location, but work is underway on the building to transform it into the new restaurant.
