James “Jay” William Jeffcoat, 68, died on January 15th, 2025, in Birmingham, Alabama while surrounded by his family. He is survived by Lisa Gottier Jeffcoat, his wife of 39 years; Jason Jeffcoat, his son; Ashley Jeffcoat, his daughter-in-law; and Aurra Jeffcoat, his granddaughter. Jay was born on April 11th, 1956, in Laverne, Crenshaw County, Alabama. He was a Christian his entire life and was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness on July 4, 1971. He had a decades-long career working in construction, completing several well-known structures in Alabama, such as the Birmingham World Games Stadium, and others throughout the United States, even while battling cancer. In his free time, Jay enjoyed spending time around his home and farm where he kept Angus cows. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and watching football, but most importantly, playing with his granddaughter. The memorial service for Jay will be held on January 25th at 2:00 PM at the Calera Kingdom Hall (839 16th St, Calera, AL, 35040).
