George Eric Ewoldsen passed away following a brief illness in Birmingham, AL on January 3, 2025 at the age of 73. George graduated from Avon High School and Purdue University in IN. He earned a degree in civil engineering in 1975 and worked as an engineer. After retirement, he continued to work on engineering projects, while pursuing interests in aviation, genealogy, and metal scrapping with his pal Gordon Madden.

He was known and loved by many in the Chelsea area. A service and fellowship will be held at noon at Old Chapel Methodist Church, Wilsonville, AL on March 15, 2025.

His son, Maj. Adam Ewoldsen preceded him in death. He is survived by daughter Beth Ewoldsen (Adam Lugg), daughter-in-law Megan, grandchildren Adelyn, Annilee, and Abe, brother Nels (Jane), sister Amy Ewoldsen Auberry (Rick), and nephews Matt (Kim) and Evan Ewoldsen.

George brought an engineer’s analytical perspective to everything he did. He believed in working hard and playing hard, standing firm in his Christian faith, always thrifty, living frugally to be generous with others.
