CALERA – One of the biggest fundraisers each year in Shelby County for local leaders, the 2025 Leadership Shelby County golf tournament will take place on Monday, April 21 at Timberline Golf Club in Calera.

The tournament, which serves as a major fundraiser for the Youth Leadership Shelby County program, will also feature a silent auction that raises money specifically for scholarships that are awarded to youth class graduates.

Last year, the silent auction had a goal of $7,500 and raised $8,000 to benefit those students. This year, the goal will be for it to be the organizations largest fundraiser yet as it coincides with the Leadership Shelby County 30th anniversary.

Leadership Shelby County is currently looking for silent auction items to feature in this year’s silent auction, which will begin Sunday, April 13 and conclude on the day of the tournament.

If you have items you would like to contribute to the auction you can email LSC Executive Director Kendall Williams at Kwilliams@shelbyal.com or Alec Etheredge at alec.etheredge@shelbycountyreporter.com.

In addition to needing silent auction items, the tournament is looking for sponsorships and teams to participate in this year’s event.

“By donating you are helping us support high school students across Shelby County,” Williams said. “With your support, we can continue to encourage young people to be socially, conscientious leaders of the future by providing them with the experience, vision and opportunity to lead.”

There are still several sponsorship opportunities available, including the Prize Sponsor level for $2,000, the Closest to the Pin Sponsor for $500, the Driving Range Sponsor for $300 and Tee Box sponsors for $200. To secure your spot, email Williams.

The tournament itself is expected to have a shotgun start at 12:30 with boxed lunches being served beforehand at 11:30 a.m. thanks to Full Moon BBQ. Timing is subject to change.

It will be a scramble format featuring teams of four taking alternating shots from the best ball hoping to combine for the best aggregate score at the end of the tournament.

Individual spots are available for $175 per person, while a team can participate for $700, both including the mulligan package.
