CHELSEA – The city of Chelsea and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office have revealed that a major crash has occurred in Chelsea, causing major delays and road closure.
On the morning of Thursday, Jan. 16, a train and cement truck collided at the railroad intersection of County Road 47 and County Road 433, blocking the road and forcing backups.
The SCSO shared that the crossing at Chelsea City Hall has been blocked as a result, and drivers should expect an extended closure as the wreck gets tended to.
The city of Chelsea recommends that travelers find alternate routes for the time being.
“Liberty Road Crossing and Highway 47 crossing are currently blocked,” read an official Facebook post from the city of Chelsea. “ Please find other routes to bypass these areas.”
The city also stated that as updates become available, they will post them to their Facebook page.
