ALABASTER – The Alabaster City Schools Board of Education approved the second phase of renovations to Creek View Elementary School during its the last regularly scheduled meeting of the year.

At the recommendation of Volkert, Inc., the ACS Board of Education approved phase two of interior renovations to Creek View Elementary School in the amount of $620,775 during a meeting on Monday, Dec. 9.

“We’re very excited,” ACS Superintendent Dr. Wayne Vickers said. “We have a very aggressive timeline, but it actually came in under projected budget, which is a trend I like.”

The renovations will be carried out summer 2025 and will mark the completion of a series of improvements that the board has dedicated itself to making for a school which has served the community for more than 30 years.

“It is a complete transformation of that school,” Vickers said. “It’s a very exciting time for us and I want to thank the board of education, Volkert and McKee for taking an elementary school (that was built) in the ‘90s and transform(ing) it into almost something that is brand new.”

The second phase of renovations will bring improvements to the interior of the school on the 300 and 400 halls as well as portion of the 500 hall.

Over the course of summer 2024, phase one of renovations to CVES were completed on the 100 and 200 halls which included new floor tile, ceiling tile, casework and paint. Both phases of renovations are the latest in a series of improvements to CVES which has seen several jobs completed, including a new roof, restroom renovations, improvements to hallways and common areas, lunch room improvements and media center renovations. Additionally, the ACS Board of Education previously approved the purchase of new furniture for CVES in May 2024.
