ALABASTER – After getting a taste of their home court at the Discover Shelby Thompson Thanksgiving Invitational, the Thompson Warriors had their official home opener on Monday, Dec. 2, and they defended their home court in dominant fashion.

Thompson cruised to an 82-44 win over the Jackson-Olin Mustangs at Warrior Arena to extend its winning streak.

Still playing shorthanded due to the absence of multiple football players, the seven available Warriors all stepped up in big ways on the offensive end right from the jump, with Daeshaun Morrissette, Jaden Love and Landyn Smith each hitting multiple field goals in the first quarter.

Their efforts helped Thompson outpace Jackson-Olin and take a 22-10 lead into the second quarter.

While the Mustangs never got into second gear on the offensive end, the Warriors continued to fly high, scoring 25 more points before halftime. After being held scoreless in the first quarter, Ethan Hudson dropped 10 points in the second while Love hit double figures himself for the half.

Thompson continued to build its lead and held a 47-20 advantage at the halftime break.

The Warriors didn’t miss a beat in the third quarter as Morrissette and Love each hit multiple shot from the field out of the break.

In addition, Carson McKenney, Aaron Glover and Jason Parks combined to go 7-for-7 from the free throw line to take advantage of the opportunities that Jackson-Olin gave them.

In all, Thompson outscored the Mustangs 20-11 to extend the lead to 67-31 at the end of the third quarter.

From there, Love and McKenney helped the Warriors cruise to victory with six and four points in the fourth, respectively. Jackson-Olin scored the most points of any quarter with 13 in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late as Thompson took the 38-point win.

Five of the seven Warriors hit double figures on the evening. Love led the way with 20 points, Morrissette dropped 16 points and Hudson posted 15 points. McKenney had 13 points, Parks earned 10 points and Smith added six points in the win.

Thompson will be right back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 3 when the Warriors hit the road to Pell City for a 7:15 p.m. tipoff.
