ALABASTER – In what has become a heartwarming tradition for the school system, members of the Alabaster City Schools Central Office traveled to each school to personally hand deliver extra compensation checks ahead of the holiday break.
After previously approving the annual extra compensation checks for ACS staff, the Alabaster City Schools Board of Education, alongside Superintendent Dr. Wayne Vickers, visited all five city schools on Nov. 22 to deliver the checks to the teachers who help make “Building the Champions of Our Future” possible.
“I am so thankful to our board of education for providing extra compensation for all our employees,” Vickers said. “This acknowledges them for their outstanding commitment to ACS and the families we serve.”
Due to that generosity, all employees received their extra compensation ahead of the holiday break with $1,000 for classified employees and $2,000 for certified employees. This amount matched last year’s bonuses which were the largest amount the school system had ever received at the time. This year also marked the 11th year that Alabaster City Schools has provided extra compensation for its employees.
Afterward, Alabaster City Schools employees were also able to look forward to a full week of Thanksgiving break after it was previously approved by the board of education.
“We are truly thankful for all of our incredible ACS employees,” read an official Facebook post by ACS.
