Incumbent Lindsey Allison has successfully secured reelection to the Shelby County Commission’s District 7 after serving for more than 30 years.

Allison, of Indian Springs, was reelected to a four year term at 75.62 percent of the vote with an unofficial tally of 10,111 votes out of 13,370. Allison ran as a Republican during the general election and faced Democrat candidate Marsha Sturdevant who received 3,243 votes or 24.26 percent of the vote.

“I’m very grateful, I’m very humbled and I’m excited to keep serving,” Allison said after the election results came in.

A retired attorney, Allison has served Shelby County on the commission for more than three decades after repeatedly securing reelection. Allison also marked the first female ever elected to the Shelby County Commission. Allison received her undergraduate degree from Auburn University and her law degree from Cumberland School of Law.

Allison continues to focus on growth, financial stability, infrastructure, law enforcement and other key aspects of the county. Moving forward, Allison said she is focused on “quality of growth.”

“We want to maintain a quality of life for the residents of Shelby County and between the Commission that’s coming back and our personal staff, we have the resources to do it,” Allison said.
