PELHAM – Craftsmen, artisans and merchants from across the South will soon gather together in Pelham for the return of A Southern Christmas Bazaar.
The Rotary Club of Alabaster-Pelham will host the annual bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena.
“Our club prides itself on being able to give back to the community and with the help of our vendors and our sponsors, we are able to put this event on again,” said Debbie Parrott, who serves as chairperson over the Christmas bazaar.
As attendees walk into the event at the complex, they will be greeted by a festive wonderland full of holiday decorations as Christmas music plays in the background as well as a variety of live music groups, including a jazz band and a ukulele group. Santa Claus will also be making an appearance at the event from 2-3:30 p.m. for attendees and children to snap a memorable photo with.
During the event, there will be approximately 45 vendors sprawled out across the complex with booths featuring a variety of items such clothing, ornaments, wreaths and decorations. Additionally, there will be vendors present with a variety of foods, including pepper jelly, bread and cookies.
“It’s our biggest fundraiser,” Parrott said. “We use the money that we raise to give back to organizations, individuals, people in need in Shelby County. All of the funds go straight back to the Shelby County community.”
Over the past ten years, the rotary’s A Southern Christmas Bazaar has raised more than $175,000 to donate back to Shelby County. Donations have been made to various groups, including the Pelham Public Library, the Community of Hope, Backpack Buddies, Manna Ministries and the King’s Ranch equestrian program.
The rotary club began more than fifty years ago by local businessman who wanted to serve others. The Rotary Club of Alabaster-Pelham follows the covenants of Rotary International and serves as a community partner for the Shelby County Area.
Adult tickets to A Southern Christmas Bazaar are $8 with children getting in for $3. A $1 discount is offered on each ticket with a canned food item to be donated to Oak Mountain Ministries.
