Polly Ann Harrell Brassell passed away on October 22,2023 at her home. Polly is survived by her 5 children, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, other family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and 7 siblings. She was laid to rest at Mt Nebo Primitive Baptist Church in Mitchell, GA where most of her family is buried. This was also her childhood church. She has lived in Shelby County for more than 50 years and attended Indian Springs Baptist Church.
Our Mother was born in 1932 during the depression. They did not always have enough to eat. She told us lots of stories of her family and childhood, but she was never negative. She always spoke of fun, family, and friends.
Mother was a generous and giving person and welcomed everyone into her home. She would give you the shirt off her back, if you needed it. Her generosity knew no bounds. She babysat her grandkids, helped when a person was sick or just needed companionship. She also enjoyed cooking for everyone. She went to a food institute school where they teach you how to run a restaurant. She was a natural born talent with cooking, and never used recipes. We, her family, will tell you that we always ate well. She talked of making biscuits when she was 6 years old.
Mother also loved working in her yard and growing beautiful flowers. Her gardening was a real source of peace for her. She was also a big animal lover. Neighboring pets would stop by for some gardening time with her.
Mother never met a stranger. One of her greatest talents was to meet someone, and see them forty years later, and instantly remember them and their names.
Mother is greatly missed by her family, but she was a believer in Jesus Christ so one day we will see her in heaven.
