FROM STAFF REPORTS
CALERA – On Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 5-8 p.m. the Calera community will have a chance to get to know its first responders as they join neighborhoods around the country in celebrating National Night Out at the Calera Courtyard.
National Night Out is an annual crime prevention and community building event that is sponsored by Calera’s Police and Fire Departments. This will be the fourth year Calera has held its own celebration.
“National Night Out is our opportunity to promote police and community partnerships that make the city of Calera a great place to live,” Sgt. Robbie Grant said. “The event gives our community, especially our children, an opportunity to meet law enforcement and first responders under positive circumstances and better understand what we all do.”
There will be a variety of activities for families to enjoy, sponsors, food trucks and access to multiple public safety vehicles and equipment.
“Families and guests in attendance will be able to interact with the same officers who serve Calera every day,” Grant said.
The event is completely free to attend. There will be opportunities to purchase food and drink from local merchants and food trucks.
Calera is expecting to have many local, state and federal partners in attendance, along with demonstrations from K-9 units and a live car extraction by the fire department.
Those interested in learning more information about Calera’s National Night Out, may reach out to the Calera Police Department.
