HELENA — The Oxford Yellow Jackets (6-0) handed the Helena Huskies (2-3) their third loss of the season on Sept. 27, 35-10, at Helena High School.
The Huskies were first to score on a field goal in the first quarter. As the quarter drew to a close with 41 seconds on the clock, the Jackets crossed the goal line but were called back due to a holding penalty.
Oxford’s Caleb Wynn scored a touchdown with 11:11 in the second, and Wynn found the end zone a second time with 9:01 in the second quarter. Before halftime, Mason Mims completed a touchdown pass to Damious Wilson to make the score 21-3 at the half.
The Huskies cut Oxford’s lead nearly in half as Jeremy Spratling scored a rushing touchdown with 9:06 left in the third quarter.
At this point, it still looked like anybody’s game. However, less than two minutes later, Mims found Jaylin Taylor to put Oxford back up at 28-10.
Wynn scored the final touchdown of the night on a 70-yard run to preserve the Jackets’ undefeated streak with their sixth straight win of the season.
