MONTEVALLO – Fresh off a bounce-back 3-0 win in area play against the Selma Saints, the Montevallo Bulldogs continued their positive momentum against a familiar foe: the Isabella Mustangs.

After sweeping the Mustangs in their first meeting of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 3, Montevallo repeated the feat at home with a 3-0 win on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

In the first set, the teams were only separated by a handful of points down the stretch before the Bulldogs took the lead and held it until the end.

Montevallo took the 25-21 win in the first set, and that set the tone for the rest of the match as the Bulldogs were in control from there.

After racing ahead and building up a commanding lead, Montevallo took the second set 25-15, and that double-digit win put it up 2-0 in the match.

Now with a chance to close the sweep once again against Isabella, the Bulldogs took advantage of that chance and finished the job.

Montevallo rode its wave of momentum to its most dominant win of the entire match. The Bulldogs earned the victory in the third set by a score of 25-10, and that allowed them to walk away with the 3-0 win in the match.

With the win, Montevallo is now 16-10 on the season and has now won two straight matches, and it sits at 3-2 in area play heading into the final stretch of the season.

The Bulldogs will be off for the rest of the week before back-to-back games on Monday, Sept. 30 and Tuesday, Oct. 1. They will first travel to Holtville on Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. before their final area match on Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. against Demopolis at Montevallo High School.
